Bakshi Bahaddur Jivabadada Kerkar Awards

The Bakshi Bahaddur Jivabadada Kerkar Awards is a prestigious State Award given to outstanding Sportsperson and Sports Organizers to recognise the effort and sacrifices made by them in enhancing their performance to achieve their goals. An amount of ` 25,000/- along with is conferred on the Awardees.

In 1971, the erstwhile Government of Goa, Daman and Diu introduced the State Sports Award to honour outstanding Sportspersons and Organisers. It was imperative to recognise the efforts and sacrifices made by Sportspersons in enhancing their performance to achieve their goals over the years. .

The Government off Goa named the prestigious Award after Bakshi Bahaddur Jivabadada Kerkar, a Great General and Statesman of the Marathas, who was born in the village of Keri in Pernem Taluka. .

A total of 141 State Sports Awards have been conferred till date. For the year 2002-03 to 2013-14, a total of 30 Awards will be presented to Sportspersons and Organisers for their scintillating performances and valuable contribution to Games and Sports.
